Kate Middleton finishes chemotherapy, hints at return to duties
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, popularly known as Kate Middleton, released a personal video on Monday announcing her successful end to chemotherapy. Cancer is complex, scary, and unpredictable, making the last nine months tough for her family, Kate said in a voiceover. Cancer gives a new perspective on life and reminds one to be grateful for simple things, she added. The video showed shots of Kate with her husband, William, Prince of Wales, and their children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte. The family was seen running through fields and forests, enjoying nature in casual clothes.
When will Kate return to royal duties? Kate did not give a specific date for her return to full royal duties and appearances but said taking steps to remain cancer-free is her top priority. Kate said it will be a long time before she is fully recovered, is choosing to live one day at a time. However, she does look forward to being back at work and attending more public engagements when possible, she added.
What kind of cancer did she have? Doctors discovered cancer after an abdominal surgery in January but neither the palace nor the princess have disclosed the type. Her announcement came just a month after the Palace revealed that her father-in-law, King Charles III, had also been diagnosed with an unspecified cancer. Doctors discovered the cancer during surgery for an enlarged prostate in January.
