Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, 32, died from injuries sustained in a Dallas shooting after he was removed from life support, the League of United Latin American Citizens said on Monday. The 29-year-old gunman who shot García-Hernández on Sept. 24 at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility also killed one other detainee and wounded a third before killing himself, according to authorities.
García-Hernández, his wife, and their four children had just moved into their first home before his detention and the attack. His wife is pregnant with their fifth child, according to the League of United Latin American Citizens.
García-Hernández was transferred to ICE custody after police arrested him for a DUI. He had started a visa process to permanently remain in the United States, according to USA TODAY.
