Update, 12:45 p.m.:
FBI Director Kash Patel said an evidence review indicated an ideological motive for the attack that killed one and wounded two on Wednesday morning. An unspent shell casing recovered from the scene was engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE,” he said.
FBI, Homeland Security, and ATF investigators were on the ground, he said. No law enforcement personnel were injured in the attack, he said—seemingly implying that the victims could be detainees.

Original story:
One person was killed and two were wounded on Wednesday morning when a shooter opened fire at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Dallas field office. One victim died at the scene, while the others were hospitalized in unknown condition, according to a statement from Dallas Police. The shooter apparently fired at the ICE facility from an adjacent building, police said.
The shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said. The person’s motive for the attack was unknown.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told CNN that he couldn’t confirm the identities or condition of the victims. The facility was secure and on lockdown, he said. The shooting was the second violent attack on a Dallas-area immigration facility recently.
