Founders Seminary names leader after Voddie Baucham death

The board of directors of the Cape Coral, Fla. seminary named Thomas Ascol acting president nearly a month after the sudden death of founding president Voddie Baucham. Ascol, who was a close friend of Baucham, would remain the school’s chancellor while carrying out presidential duties, according to a news release from Founders Seminary.

Ascol said that he had looked forward to working with Baucham for years. Now, as president, he will carry on his mission and trust in God’s sovereignty, he said.

The all-male seminary just welcomed its first 30 students in August, according to the release. Baucham died of an emergency medical incident on Sept. 25, five days after its inaugural convocation
