The Sight & Sound Christian entertainment company on Tuesday said that Roadside Attractions acquired domestic distribution rights for its upcoming feature film, A Great Awakening. The live-action film, which opens on April 3, 2026, is based on the true story of a friendship between fiery preacher George Whitefield and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. It explores the meaning of liberty amid widespread Christian revival and the drafting of the Constitution, according to a news release.
What are the two companies known for? Sight & Sound produces original Biblical theater shows attended by more than 1.5 million people annually at its locations in Pennsylvania and Missouri. The company made its first foray into feature films with the 2022 Fathom Entertainment release of I Heard the Bells, which grossed $5.6 million at the box office, according to the release.
Roadside previously distributed the breakout Christian film I Can Only Imagine, the 2018 biopic based on the life of MercyMe band frontman Bart Millard. Roadside’s films have earned 23 Academy Award nominations, according to the release. Sight & Sound has a large and devoted following, but its reach will expand to a nationwide audience through partnership with Roadside, the distribution company’s co-presidents said in the release.
