Pulitzer highlights video of Floyd’s death
Darnella Frazier was 17 when she recorded the arrest of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. The Pulitzer Prize Board on Friday gave her a special citation for the video that sparked widespread protests throughout the country.
What else happened at the Pulitzers? Minneapolis’ Star Tribune and Michael Paul Williams of Virginia’s Richmond Times-Dispatch also took home prizes for their reporting on the nationwide protests. Other prizes also honored writers of both fiction and nonfiction who tackled racial issues and police reform. The Atlantic and The New York Times received honors for coverage relating to the coronavirus pandemic. The Associated Press received several photojournalism awards.
