Former New York mayor, Trump lawyer Giuliani hospitalized

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was in critical but stable condition in a hospital Sunday night. Giuliani was fighting with “unwavering strength,” said spokesman Ted Goodman. He asked for prayer for 81-year-old Giuliani, but did not offer any details about what led to the hospitalization. Giuliani, a close ally of President Donald Trump, previously served as the president’s personal attorney. Born in Brooklyn to Italian-American parents, he was raised Catholic. He rose to prominence as a prosecutor in the 1980s, helping to convict leaders of organized crime, and was elected mayor in 1994.

On Friday, Giuliani hosted his streaming video show, “America’s Mayor Live,” from Palm Beach, Fla. During the episode, he coughed and said his voice was under the weather.

Who has responded to Giuliani’s hospitalization? Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Giuliani was there for the city when it needed him most—leading New York City through the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Adams added he was praying for Giuliani.

Trump described Giuliani as a true warrior and the best mayor in New York City’s history in a post on Sunday night. The president said that Giuliani was treated badly by Democrats and the radical left.

During the 2020 election campaign, Giuliani promoted false claims that Trump won over former President Joe Biden and accused election workers of ballot fraud. In 2025, he declared bankruptcy after settling a $148 million judgment that found him guilty of defaming two Georgia election workers.
