Djokovic and Kerber win at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic and Angelique Kerber won the Wimbledon men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, this weekend in London.

Djokovic defeated Kevin Anderson in Sunday’s final 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (3) to win his first Grand Slam title in more than two years. It was his fourth Wimbledon title. “There were several moments where I was frustrated and questioning whether I can get back [to the] desired level or not,” said the 31-year-old Serb who is a devout member of the Serbian Orthodox Church. “But that makes this whole journey even more special for me.”

Kerber defeated seven-time champion Serena Williams 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday to win her first Wimbledon title and third Grand Slam event. “I know that against Serena, I have to play my best tennis, especially in the important moments,” said the 30-year-old who became the first German to win Wimbledon since Steffi Graf in 1996.
