Texas man charged with stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark

Michael Lewis, 55, is charged with stalking Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark, the prosecutor's office in Marion County, Ind. told WORLD on Tuesday. Lewis allegedly sent Clark threatening and sexually explicit messages on the social media platform X and continued messaging her even after police first confronted him last week, prosecutors said. Authorities ultimately arrested Lewis on Sunday, prosecutors said.

Lewis was innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and the charges against him were only allegations, prosecutors added.

What did Clark have to say about all this? Authorities met with Clark and she confirmed that the messages made her fear for her safety, according to court documents.

What happened? Prosecutors allege that Lewis began harassing Clark on Dec. 16, 2024, according to court documents. Lewis allegedly sent Clark sexually harassing messages, specifically saying that he had arrived in her hometown of Indianapolis and driven around her house three times a day, according to the court documents.

Officers visited the hotel room where Lewis was staying in Indianapolis. Lewis told officers he had an imaginary relationship with Clark. Authorities asked him not to post threatening messages and to double-check anything he did post. But after the meeting with police, the messages continued, prosecutors said in a news release.
