Tensions down after Erika Kirk meeting, Candace Owens says
Right-wing media personality Candace Owens on Monday met with Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, for a private discussion that lasted over four hours, Owens said. The two agreed on many points during their conversation, Owens said. Kirk announced the meeting after weeks of Owens spreading conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk’s assassination on her show, including the allegation that Turning Point USA staffers agreed to his death. Erika Kirk was named the CEO of the organization after her husband’s assassination. Owens is a former employee of Turning Point USA.
The two women disagreed regarding several points and people, but were able to share information and clarify intent, Owens said. No one held back, and tensions between them thawed, Owens said. She planned to give more information on Tuesday.
What did Erika take away from the meeting? Erika Kirk also characterized the meeting as productive, but emphasized that it was time to get back to work, with Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference coming up next weekend. Both she and Owens plan to share more information later, she said. It was unclear if Turning Point staffers would reschedule a canceled livestream in which they originally planned to rebut Owens’ theories.
