Scripture-inspired television

Following a trend emerging in big-screen productions, television producer Mark Burnett (creator of hits like Survivor and The Apprentice) and his wife, actress Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel), looked to Scripture for inspiration for their latest project. Their 10-part miniseries, The Bible, which covers well-known stories like Noah’s Ark, the Exodus, and Daniel in the lions’ den, and the lives of Abraham and Jesus premieres Sunday, March 3 on The History Channel.

What sets the TV series apart from upcoming Bible-based movie projects like Noah, Moses, Pontius Pilate, and others, is that this one is helmed by professing Christians. Both Burnett and Downey say their passion for the show stems from their personal faith, so viewers can expect their adaptation to both revere and accurately reflect their source material.
