Rosalynn Carter memorial events scheduled for next week
The Carter Center released the schedule for next week’s celebration of the life of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, the wife of former President Jimmy Carter. Born Eleanor Rosalynn Smith, she died on Sunday at the age of 96. Her remains will be transferred to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta on Nov. 27, where the public will be allowed to pay their respects. Before arriving in Atlanta, the former first lady’s motorcade will stop to lay wreaths at the Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex at Georgia Southwestern State University. A tribute service for guests is planned for Nov. 28 at the Glenn Memorial Church on Emory University’s campus.
Will her actual funeral be public? Carter’s funeral service is scheduled for Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Ga. Friends and family will attend the service, while the internment of her body at the Carter family home will be private. The Carter Center is inviting the public to line the family’s motorcade route, with details available online.
