'Idol' hopeful points to one true God

Whether the God of the universe is a fan of American Idol is up for debate, but one thing is certain—He seems to show up every time contestant Angie Miller performs.

The 19-year-old is a former worship leader at her church in Salem, Mass.—and the word “former” is to be taken lightly, as the pastor’s daughter seems to have simply switched to a bigger stage. Miller roused both the audience and all three judges to their feet with her April 10 top-six performance of the Christ-centered song Love Came Down, by Kari Jobe.

“I love it for so many reasons, it taps into who you are,” Randy Jackson said. “It was amazing, you saw us stand up, love it!"

"Angie, that piano and you, you can't go wrong,” Mariah Carey added. “I can't express it, it was perfect.”

And the praise didn’t stop there.

“Every. Single. Time. I listen to @AngieAI12 sing 'Love Came Down' I can't help but get chill bumps! So talented. …” one fan tweeted.

Even @karijobe got in on the action: "Incredible. Absolutely incredible @AngieAI12 ..my eyes have tears.. You are beautiful and the anointing was sweet!! Xoxo”

But Jobe’s song wasn’t the first time Miller shared Christ on the Idol stage.

On March 5, in the Las Vegas semi-finals, she performed the song Never Gone, made famous by former-Idol-contestant-turned-Christian-music-artist Colton Dixon.

“Through music I aim to show that loving God and being a good influence to others is my goal!!,” Angie Miller wrote on her Twitter profile. “Always Dream Big :) #Dreamers AMERICAN IDOL S12 HERE WE GO!”

From now until the finale, scheduled to take place live on May 16, the final five—included Miller—will take part in a two-hour performance show each Wednesday night, followed by a one-hour elimination results show each Thursday night.
