France captures World Cup title

France closed out an exciting World Cup in Russia on Sunday, defeating Croatia 4-2. France was the second-youngest team in the tournament, and the youngest player on the team, 19-year-old Kylian Mbappé made history, becoming the first teenager in 60 years to score a goal in a World Cup final. Sunday’s victory represents France’s second World Cup title. The French also won in 1998.

Four protesters, believed to be members of an anti–Vladimir Putin activist group, briefly interrupted the match when they ran onto the field, as the Russian president looked on from VIP seats. Putin later took the field to award medals to the players.
