Facebook to suspend Trump for two years
In early 2023, the social media company will consider whether “the risk to public safety has receded” in deciding whether to reinstate the former president’s account. Facebook announced on Friday that it will extend for two years the suspension it imposed on President Donald Trump after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
What happens in the meantime? Users can still access Trump’s past Facebook posts and comment on them, but he can’t post new material. The same day, the company released new rules and penalties and said it would no longer treat politicians differently than the average user. Twitter has permanently banned Trump’s account on its platform and removed all past tweets.
