Carl Weathers, star of <em>Rocky</em> and <em>The Mandalorian</em>, dies at 76

The Emmy-nominated actor passed away in his sleep on Thursday, Feb. 1, according to a statement from his surviving family. Weathers is best known for playing rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise and Col. Al Dillon in Predator alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. The late actor also gained fame with later generations, portraying Greef Karga in The Mandalorian and appearing as himself in the comedy TV show Arrested Development. Before his breakout role in Rocky, Weathers played professional football from 1970 to 1973 for the Oakland Raiders and Canada’s B.C. Lions. Weathers is survived by his sons, Matthew and Jason.
