Alabama football coach Nick Saban to retire

The seven-time college football national championship-winning head coach reportedly informed his team on Wednesday about his decision. ESPN’s Chris Low first reported the news on X. Saban is most noted for his dominant coaching tenure at Alabama, where he won six of his seven national championships. He won his other national championship while coaching for Louisiana State University. He has the most National Championship victories of any coach in college football history.

Why is he retiring now? Saban has coached college football for 28 years. He also coached at the professional level for several years, serving as a defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns and head coach for the Miami Dolphins. Saban holds a 292-71-1 record at the college level, making him the fifth-winningest college coach in college football history.
