Actor Val Kilmer dead at 65

Kilmer’s daughter, Mercedes, told news outlets that the iconic actor passed away on Tuesday in Los Angeles from pneumonia after a years-long battle with throat cancer. Kilmer became known for his role as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky opposite Tom Cruise in the 1986 film Top Gun and the 2022 sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. He’s also well known for his role as Bruce Wayne and Batman in Joel Schumacher‘s 1995 Batman Forever, and Doc Holliday in the 1993 western Tombstone. Other notable roles include Jim Morrison in the 1991 biopic The Doors, Madmartigan in the 1988 fantasy Willow, and Moses in the 1998 biblical cartoon The Prince of Egypt.

Kilmer, a Christian Scientist, shared his past struggles and current health issues in his 2021 biopic documentary Val. He is survived by his children, Jack and Mercedes.
