Trump signs Secure America Act, funding DHS
President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed the Secure America Act, a $70 billion bill funding immigration enforcement and other Department of Homeland Security initiatives. The House narrowly approved the bill Tuesday in a 214-212 vote with four representatives, including three Republicans, not voting. The Senate passed the bill last week, also by a narrow margin, after months of legislative wrangling.
Trump said the legislation would cover funding for DHS through the end of his term. He characterized Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as heroes and said people wanted law and order.
