Trump pleads the Fifth in New York

Attorney General Letitia James has been conducting a civil investigation into former President Donald Trump’s business dealings. She called him in to testify Wednesday. During his six-hour-long interview, Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself on the advice of his lawyers, he said in a statement. On Monday, the FBI searched Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago in a separate investigation into whether he has White House records that belong in the National Archives.

What did Trump say about it? In his statement, Trump said that James built her political career on trying to take him and his business down. He said he, his family, and his business are targets of a politically motivated “witch hunt” and he had no choice but the plead the Fifth Amendment.
