Trump, Clinton talk national security at New York forum
Presidential hopefuls Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton made back-to-back appearances last night at a forum in New York focused on national security issues. Trump made headlines for comments he made in praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also appeared to waffle on previous claims about a foolproof plan to obliterate Islamic State, telling moderator Matt Lauer he would seek advice from the nation’s military leaders before adopting any strategy. Clinton answered questions again about her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state, repeating her standard claim about not knowing some of the messages routed through the server contained classified material. The candidates will have their first debate on Sept. 26.
