Trump boosts Pennsylvania GOP candidates

The former president spoke in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., on Saturday to support celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz’s campaign for Senate and Doug Mastriano’s bid for state governor. The state ranks high in importance this election season, with President Joe Biden visiting Pittsburgh on Labor Day—his third appearance this week in the Keystone State. The speech was Trump’s first public appearance since the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Aug. 8.

What did Trump say in his speech? He called Biden an “enemy of the state” in response to the president’s remarks last week that Trump and his supporters constituted a “threat to democracy.” Trump also said that the search of his home last month was “one of the most shocking abuses of power by any administration in American history.” The FBI is investigating the former president’s handling of official records after he left office.
