Blast at Tennessee munitions plant leaves some missing, dead

The Accurate Energetic Systems explosives plant in rural McEwen, Tenn. blew up on Friday morning. The blast leveled at least one building and killed several people, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said, according to The Tennessean. About 19 people were missing, according to local journalist Burton Staggs. Humphries County Government asked the public to respect the privacy of the victims and avoid speculation on social media. The cause of the blast was unknown as of Friday afternoon.
The plant has operated eight production buildings across 1300 acres, as well as a quality control lab, according to its website. It has processed bulk explosives for both military and commercial clients.
