Senate passes $460 billion package to fund the government

The six bills making up the package began making their way to President Joe Biden’s desk Friday evening after the Senate approved them 75-22. The House had approved the legislation 339-85 earlier this week.

What’s in these bills? Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said after the Senate vote that the bills retained funding for programs supporting veterans and mothers. He added later that the package also aids farmers and schools.

So the government is now funded? Not quite. The House, Senate, and the president are all facing a March 22 deadline for passing another batch of six spending bills before the government will be funded through the end of the fiscal year.
