Romney's right-hand man

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling was named Mitt Romney's Virginia campaign chair Monday, according to a press release from Romney's 2012 presidential campaign. Delegates Barbara Comstock and Chris Peace were named co-chairs of the campaign.
"I am honored that Mitt Romney has asked me to chair his presidential campaign in Virginia," said Bolling, who also chaired Romney's 2008 presidential run. "Over the past few years I have developed a strong personal relationship with Governor Romney. I am absolutely convinced that he is the right person to carry our party's banner into the 2012 campaigns and the right person to lead our country toward a more prosperous future."
Romney has received mixed feelings from evangelicals because of his Mormon beliefs. (see 'Mormon president?' 7/16) Both Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli have yet to endorse a candidate in the 2012 presidential race. Cuccinelli says he'll wait to endorse until after the November legislative elections. McDonnell, whom pundits have presented as a possible vice-presidential candidate because of his high approval rating, is staying out for now.
"I am proud to have the support of these Virginians," Romney said. "They have been leaders in the fight for smaller government and lower taxes in Virginia."
Bolling was elected to a second term as lieutenant governor in 2009. Comstock was elected to the House of Delegates in 2009 and serves on the Science and Technology Committee, the General Laws Committee and the Transportation Committee. Since his 2006 election to the House of Delegates, Peace has been a member of the Courts of Justice Committee and Finance Committee.
