Reuters/Ipsos poll shows decline in Biden’s approval ratings
The poll, which Reuters reported Wednesday, showed President Joe Biden’s approval ratings dropped from 40 percent in December to 38 percent in January. The last time his approval rating reached a number higher than 50 percent was in August 2021. The online poll surveyed over a thousand adults in the United States in late January and has a margin of error of about 3 percent, according to Reuters. International pollster Ipsos was founded in Paris in 1975, according to the firm’s website.
What caused Biden’s numbers to fall in January? According to the same Rueters/Ipsos poll, the chief concerns potential voters have are the economy and inflation. A separate poll in December found that Biden had gained some support, while many voters disapproved of his handling of the economy. Concerns about immigration rose significantly from December to January in the Reuters/Ipsos poll. The Biden administration has dealt with rising migrant entries at the southern border. Many states have struggled financially to receive higher numbers of immigrants.
