G3 Ministries founder resigns, admits slander, church says

Josh Buice, an influential Reformed Baptist pastor and founder of G3 Ministries recently stepped down from his ministry and church for slandering pastors and elders, his church said. Buice took an indefinite leave from Pray’s Mill Baptist Church after elders discovered he ran a slew of anonymous social media accounts and emails used to attack others. His accounts included two on Substack, a subscription-based publishing platform. He had served as pastor of the Douglasville, Ga. church since 2010. Buice also resigned as president of G3, his church said in a statement Monday. Buice’s public account on X, formerly known as Twitter, and blog were taken down by Tuesday morning.

How did he react when confronted? Church leadership repeatedly asked Buice over several years whether he was connected to the accounts, according to the church’s statement. He denied any connection, and continued to do so at a May 4 meeting with elders who presented irrefutable evidence that the accounts were his, the church said. Buice finally admitted to running the accounts after two hours of pleading, the church said.

G3 Ministries canceled its 2025 national conference, but said it would continue publishing Biblical education content and would leave Buice’s writings on its site. He founded the ministry in 2019. About 6,500 people attended its 2021 conference, according to the ministry’s website.

What’s next for Buice? He is disqualified as an elder and pastor, the church said, but not necessarily on a permanent basis. Buice plans to individually ask forgiveness of those he slandered and lied to, and elders intend to counsel him through a repentance process, the church said. He also taught preaching classes at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, which had not publicly commented on the situation as of early Tuesday morning.
