Members of Congress from Connecticut receive bomb threats
At least five Democratic members of Congress received threats on Thanksgiving Day. They included Sen. Chris Murphy, as well as Reps. Joe Courtney, Jim Himes, John Larson, and Jahana Hayes, the Associated Press reported.
Himes was notified of the threat Thursday morning, he wrote on social media. The threat targeted his home, where he was celebrating with family, he said. Capitol Police, along with the Greenwich Police Department and the Stamford Police Department, all responded to the threat, but no evidence of a bomb was found, according to Himes’ statement. He thanked local law enforcement and called for an end to political violence. The FBI is investigating the threats with other law enforcement agencies, according to a report by the Associated Press.
Didn’t something similar happen earlier this week? Several individuals nominated for roles in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration received bomb threats and swatting calls on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The FBI stated on Wednesday it was aware of the bomb threats and swatting calls and was working with its law enforcement partners to investigate.
