The Yemen-based terrorist group shared on Thursday that Houthi Maj. Gen. Muhammad Abdul Karim al-Ghamari died in an airstrike. Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that al-Ghamari died from wounds received in an airstrike in late August. He added that the Houthi leader is now in the depths of hell with the rest of his comrades killed in the powerful strike. Israel has worked extensively to remove Houthi threats, and will continue to do so, he added.
What was al-Ghamari’s role? He held various leadership positions within the terrorist group before his 2016 appointment to chief of staff, according to a Thursday statement from the Israeli military. Al-Ghamari played a central role in building the Houthis' missile systems and weapons production infrastructure. He received training from the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorists and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Al-Ghamari helped carry out hundreds of missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli civilians, the Israeli military said. Israel described al-Ghamari’s death as a severe blow to the Houthi command structure.
