Mar-a-Lago property manager delays plea in classified documents case
Carlos De Oliveira appeared in a Miami courtroom Monday after a grand jury indicted him last week on charges of obstructing justice and lying to federal investigators. A judge presented the Mar-a-Lago property manager with the charges against him, but De Oliveira did not enter a plea because he did not have a Florida-based attorney representing him. His arraignment was scheduled for next week.
What are prosecutors saying that De Oliveira did? Prosecutors allege that De Oliveira helped his co-defendant and Trump’s body man Walt Nauta move boxes of classified documents. Prosecutors say De Oliveira later lied to investigators about having moved the boxes. They also allege that he helped an attempt to delete security camera footage from the Mar-a-Lago estate after investigators subpoenaed it.
