Gold star families demand answers two years after Kabul suicide bombing

Family members of U.S. servicemembers killed during the military withdrawal in Kabul, Afghanistan, two years ago addressed a special congressional forum in California on Monday. Gold Star Families are those with an immediate family member killed in the line of duty while serving in the United States Armed Forces. They demanded answers and accountability, calling for Biden administration officials to resign and admit mistakes they made during the withdrawal.

What have Biden administration officials said? The State Department released a statement shortly after the incident, recognizing the servicemembers’ deaths and calling them heroes. The Biden administration has acknowledged some issues with the Afghanistan military withdrawal, but family members of the deceased veterans are not satisfied. “Admit to your mistakes,” said Darin Hoover, whose son, Marine Sergeant Taylor Hoover, was killed in the attack.
