Ex-Trump Organization CFO pleads guilty to perjury
Allen Weisselberg on Monday pleaded guilty to two charges that he lied under oath. He “looks forward to putting this situation behind him,” his attorney Seth L. Rosenberg wrote in a statement to WORLD. The prosecution has recommended that the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization serve five months in jail. Last year, he also received a five-month sentence in connection to a separate tax fraud case, according to a statement by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
What did he plead guilty to? Bragg had originally charged Weisselberg with five counts of perjury. In an agreement with the prosecution, he pleaded guilty on Monday to lying at a deposition and Trump’s civil trial. Weisselberg reportedly admitted to lying under oath on three other occasions without formally pleading guilty to the other three charges.
