Deacon who helped stop church shooting given new truck

A Ford dealership in Wayne, Mich. on Thursday handed Richard Pryor the keys to a new F-150 truck, local news outlet WDIV reported. Pryor, a deacon at nearby CrossPointe Community Church, last month helped thwart a church shooting by ramming the attacker with his F-150.

The impact struck the shooter to the ground. But the man fired repeatedly at the truck, shattering the windshield, before church security guards shot him dead, a church member recently told WORLD. The incident totaled Pryor’s truck, local news reported.

What did Pryor say about the gift? He thanked the dealership, Jack Demmer Ford, and said it was time to get back to work. He has three jobs and had been without a vehicle for weeks, local news reported.
