Boebert pushes for House vote on Biden impeachment

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden yesterday as a special petition, guaranteeing a vote for the measure on the House floor soon. Boebert cited Biden’s lack of border control as grounds for impeachment under dereliction of duty and abuse of power. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy asked divided Republicans to vote against the resolution, arguing that the Republican-led House’s committee investigations should finish before moving to impeach.

Will Biden actually be impeached? Boebert first attempted to impeach Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2021 after their administration abandoned $7 billion in gear and weaponry during the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has also called for Biden’s impeachment multiple times. Greene introduced her sixth impeachment resolution in May, citing Biden’s disregard for U.S. immigration policy.
