Biden says he will stay in office, continue reelection campaign

U.S. President Joe Biden is still looking to serve a second term, according to a Wednesday statement from Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison. Biden said in a press call with the Democratic National Committee that no one was encouraging him not to run, according to a post retweeted by Harrison. Vice President Kamala Harris also joined the call, Harrison said.

Has the White House confirmed Harrison’s statement? “The president is clear-eyed, and he is staying in the race,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a press briefing on Wednesday. Still, Jean-Pierre acknowledged multiple times that Biden performed poorly in a debate last week against former President Donald Trump. Biden acknowledged as well last week that he performed poorly in the debate. But he insisted he could still perform the duties of president.
