At least 14 people killed in Prague shooting

A student opened fire at Charles University in the Czech Republic’s capital, authorities said. In addition to those killed, more than 20 people were injured, with nine of those seriously wounded. The attack was not linked to international terrorism, Czech Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan said Thursday. Local authorities confirmed that the shooter was a 24-year-old student at the university and said the shooter’s father was found dead earlier on Thursday.

Are shootings a significant problem in the Czech Republic? This is the most deadly shooting in the Czech Republic in decades, where shootings are relatively rare. The last fatal shooting was in 2019 when a gunman killed six people before committing suicide.
