Each week, The World and Everything in It features a “Culture Friday” segment, in which Executive Producer Nick Eicher discusses the latest cultural news with John Stonestreet of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. Here is a summary of their conversation.

This latest undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress shows clearer evidence that Planned Parenthood is in violation of federal law on fetal body parts trafficking. All of the videos are driving a broader and deeper cultural conversation, prompting even some of our top political leaders to wonder aloud what’s happened to the soul of the nation.

This week, I talked with John Stonestreet of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview about the impact the videos are having on the culture.

“Here you have Fox News carrying abortion footage on national television. Every time I get on Facebook there’s images. And it’s not conjured up images,” Stonestreet said. “You’re seeing with your own eyes.”

The videos not only expose the evil of abortion, they also show how much evil can grow when it’s ignored.

“Here you have an evil that’s been going on, at least legally, since 1973 that’s been a hidden evil,” Stonestreet said. “Hidden evil flourishes and it grows and it multiplies and it leads to other evil.”

The U.S. Senate this week could not muster enough votes to halt federal funding for Planned Parenthood, but the fact that the vote took place shows cultural momentum building against the nation’s No. 1 abortion provider. For long-term change to take place, Stonestreet said, the nation must admit to mistakes it made in the sexual revolution: “In the long run, can we overcome our addiction to our own sexual autonomy and look back and say this is one of the worst things that America ever did and certainly ever paid for?”
