Marvin Olasky has always been a multi-career man. In addition to his work as a journalist, he's a serious author. He's also a political theorist who at one time advised a speaker of the House and the candidate who would become the 43rd president of the United States. He's a respected academic and college provost. In my decade and a half of working with Marvin at WORLD, his several other callings have-to my way of thinking-intruded.

Only a little while longer, though. As of Feb. 1, 2011, WORLD has Marvin Olasky in full.

Moments ago, Marvin announced to his colleagues at The King's College that he is stepping down as provost to join us full time. You can read the press release here. There are no hard feelings and we will maintain two specific ties to the school: the Distinguished Visitors Series (which has produced numerous newsmaker interviews you've read in WORLD, including one with Amity Shlaes in the latest issue) and the World Journalism Institute.

Marvin, Lord willing, will do for WORLD's future as a news organization what he did for us as a magazine more than 15 years ago. We need his full attention and energy if we are to seize the opportunities afforded by the radical upheaval going on in the world of journalism. As the industry casts about for new economic models and new journalistic models, we have settled on building a non-profit, reader-funded news organization devoted to biblically objective news reporting.

We are grateful to God that Marvin will be joining us with single-minded devotion to transforming WORLD Magazine into a world-class news organization.

And I would also point you to the column I wrote for the issue of WORLD that went to press last night.

More to come, but for now I'm humming the Doxology.
