Zelenskyy visits liberated Kherson

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenskyy walked the streets of Kherson on Monday after his troops recaptured the city. The battle was hard-won, Zelenskyy said, and the Ukrainians are “step by step” coming for all of the Russian-occupied territories. The city is still laced with explosives and there is no heat, water, or electricity for its 80,000 remaining residents as winter approaches.

What’s happening on the international stage? The European Union (EU) announced Monday that it is imposing sanctions on the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Gen. Hossein Salami. The EU said Iran is supplying drones to Russia to use in Ukraine and accused Salami of supervising the development of Iran’s drones. Iran has said that it supplied drones to Russia before it invaded Ukraine but stopped when the war started.
