Yahoo data breach affects 500 million users
A “state-sponsored actor” stole personal information from 500 million Yahoo accounts in late 2014, the internet company disclosed today. The stolen data includes users’ names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, passwords, and security questions. Claims surfaced in early August that a hacker was trying to sell the information on the dark web, USA Today reported. Yahoo recommends users change their passwords if they haven’t done so since 2014.
