World Economic Forum begins in Switzerland


The forum will last five days in Davos and conclude on Friday. According to its mission statement, the purpose of the WEF is to improve the world by engaging societal leaders to reshape “global, regional, and industry agendas.” The forum will focus on creating security and jobs, as well as responding to 21st-century challenges like artificial intelligence and climate change. This is the 54th meeting of the WEF.

Who is attending the forum? Political leaders from over 100 governments will attend, including U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, French President Emmanuel Macron, and China’s Premier Li Qiang. Prominent international corporate leaders and the WEF’s partner companies will also attend.
