Wife of Minnesota missionary arrested in connection to his death
Authorities in Angola this week arrested Jackie Shroyer in connection with the violent killing of her husband Beau Shroyer, according to a statement from the family’s former church. The couple and their five children attended Lake Area Vineyard Church before moving in 2021 to Angola with the missionary organization SIM USA. Lake Area Vineyard lead pastor Troy Easton said the children are being cared for and the church is working with the missionary organization to meet the family’s needs. SIM USA president Randy Fairman said Saturday he was traveling out to Angola to try to help.
Easton said Beau Shroyer was killed in a violent and criminal attack, but did not provide additional details on the killing.
Were there security concerns prior to this incident? During a June visit to Country Faith Church in Minnesota, Jackie told the congregation that the family had security issues while living in Angola. She said the family experienced break-ins at their home and had to change guards several times due to a lack of trust. Beau told the church that building a perimeter wall around their ministry’s property was a top priority for the family. The U.S. State Department in September advised travelers to Angola that violent crimes such as armed robbery and assault are common and local police lack the resources to respond effectively.
