Cheat sheet. Tournament Scrabble players rack up big scores by playing words that most of us don’t know or don’t believe comply with Scrabble rules. The Merriam-Webster website provides a helpful list of 10 Secrets of Scrabble Masters, including words like Xi.

Love letter. Charlotte’s Web author E.B. White was so excited when his wife became pregnant that he wrote a sweet letter to her. Instead of writing it in his own voice, he wrote it in the voice of her Scotty dog, Daisy.
