Ukraine begins possible counteroffensive

Ukraine said its forces destroyed bridges and ammunition depots Tuesday in a resurgence of fighting in the country’s Russian-occupied south. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that Russian troops had stood up well against Ukraine’s offensive and that Ukrainian forces had lost hundreds of troops and combat vehicles in the fighting. Some speculate that the renewed fighting in the region is part of a long-expected Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Any other updates on the war? The EU will likely slow the visa process for Russian citizens and make it more expensive. The bloc is divided about a travel ban on Russian citizens. The United Nations, meanwhile, still has a team en route to visit the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility in southern Ukraine. The team is expected to arrive later this week.
