Twitter feud escalates between Trump, Corker

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump sparred on Twitter with a fellow Republican on Sunday, potentially exacerbating his already contentious relationship with Congress. In a string of Sunday morning tweets, President Donald Trump said Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who recently announced he won’t seek reelection next year, begged him for an endorsement and didn’t have the guts to run without one. The president called Corker a negative voice on Capitol Hill and said he “is also largely responsible for the horrendous Iran Deal!” Corker jabbed back with a tweet of his own: “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.” Then Corker doubled down, telling The New York Times that Trump treats the presidency like a reality show and could set the country on a path to World War III. Last week Corker told reporters he thinks people like Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, and White House chief of staff John Kelly are the only people that separate the United States from chaos. When Corker announced he would retire last month he said he looked forward to serving out the rest of his term with independence. In the past, Trump unsuccessfully attacked other GOP senators to gain support for healthcare reform.
