Trump’s Twitter fight with TV hosts draws disapproval
President Donald Trump continues to receive criticism after firing off a pair of insulting tweets Thursday directed at MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. Trump called the cable news personalities “low I.Q. Crazy Mika” and “Psycho Joe” and accused the two of trying to crash his New Year’s Eve party even though Brzezinski was “bleeding badly from a face-lift.” Several GOP lawmakers—including House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Sens. John McCain of Arizona, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina—denounced the president’s tweets. “Please just stop. This isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office,” Sasse tweeted. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the president’s words, telling reporters Thursday it’s no surprise Trump did what he did since Morning Joe often attacks him personally. Brzezinski and Scarborough wrote in a Friday op-ed in The Washington Post that Trump “is not mentally equipped to continue watching our show” and his attacks on women are disturbing.
