Trump wants to ban flavored e-cigarettes

The Food and Drug Administration reports that more than one-quarter of high school students have vaped, and lung disease linked to e-cigarettes has killed at least six people in the United States. President Donald Trump on Wednesday called on manufacturers to pull all non-tobacco-flavored vaping products from the market, and the FDA said it was working on guidelines for a ban. The multibillion-dollar vaping industry said the move would just send “ex-smokers back to smoking” and create a black market of unsafe vaping products.

What would change? The restrictions would only apply to FDA-regulated vaping items with nicotine. “If we see a migration to tobacco-flavored products by kids, we will take additional steps to address youth use of these products,” acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharples said.
