Trump: U.S. won’t hesitate to destroy North Korea
President Donald Trump delivered his first address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and did not hold back his rhetoric on North Korea. The president warned if North Korea does not clean up its behavior, the United States will not hesitate to attack. “The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” Trump said. He specifically condemned North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he referred to as “Rocket Man,” saying Kim was on a suicide mission. Trump said North Korea’s provocations don’t harm just its own people, but they also threaten the world. He urged other world leaders to take the North Korean threat seriously and find ways to cut off the rogue nation’s resources. “It is an outrage that some nations would not only trade with such a nation but would arm, supply, and financially support a country that imperils the world,” the president said. In his address, Trump urged world leaders to promote the sovereignty of their own nations. He said he would always place the United States’ interests first and expected other world leaders to do the same for their own countries.
