Trump says Bidens came up in Ukraine call
WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump said Sunday he had discussed former Vice President Joe Biden’s family with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The phone call in July became the subject of a whistleblower report that Congress and the White House sparred over last week. The president said he expressed concern about the business dealings of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, in the country, but he did not offer anything in exchange for the Ukrainians to investigate.
What have the Bidens been up to in Ukraine? In 2016, Joe Biden, while serving as vice president, urged the Ukranian government to fire the country’s chief prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, for corruption. At the time, Shokin was investigating a Ukranian gas company that had Hunter Biden on its board of directors. The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate has denied allegations he acted to shield his son.
