Trump ratchets up critique of Sessions

President Donald Trump tweeted renewed criticism of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday morning. He questioned why Sessions did not replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a colleague of former director James Comey. Trump fired Comey in May for his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server. On Tuesday, Trump said he had not decided yet whether to fire the attorney general. Sessions recused himself early on from the Justice Department’s investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. “I am disappointed in the attorney general. He should not have recused himself almost immediately after he took office,” Trump said Tuesday. The president said that’s not his only frustration with Sessions: “I want the attorney general to be much tougher on the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before at a very important level.”
